Ulrich Alber GmbH Ulrich Alber GmbH
Alber is a specialist manufacturer of portable, versatile and easy to use mobility aids and worldwide leader in the market for add-on power drives for wheelchair users. The company was founded in Germany in 1985 by Ulrich Alber with the aim of developing a mobile stair climber; the resulting scalamobil was a revolutionary, battery-powered climbing system for moving people up and down staircases while still in their wheelchair. The ability to interface with almost any manual wheelchair has since become a core competence of Alber.

The development of the e-fix add-on power drive soon followed and revolutionised wheelchair mobility, whilst the subsequent introduction of the viamobil push- and brake-aid supported carers by providing previously unknown levels of user friendliness. Then came the e-motion power drive, a unique control system that closed the gap between a power wheelchair and a manual wheelchair.

Alber Adventure In 2003 Alber introduced the new Adventure power wheelchair which provides unprecedented levels of driving comfort and modularity. All main components can be quickly removed from the chassis without the use of tools so that the Adventure can be transported easily even in a medium-sized car.

Alber recently won the myHandicap Award from the German Hertie foundation in the category of 'most innovative product for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis'. Ulrich Alber GmbH received the 10,000 euro prize for its e:motion wheelchair power drive and will donate double that sum into a disability aids fund.

Gerald Simonds is proud to be sole distributor in UK and Ireland for Alber products.
